Final page! But it’s late, and I’m too tired to say much. Just been very busy lately—oh, and the next Pern page is almost done, also. I’ll probably be uploading it in a couple days…
Medusa, page 4. Now we’re getting somewhere! I had so much fun playing around with the effects on this. Only 2 pages left to go on this short story, and while I struggled at first to find my footing, now I’ll be almost sad to see it finished.
I’ve also found a few exciting projects by other creators that I’m looking forward to profiling/reviewing soon. There are some really talented folks out there on those interwebs!
I know this has taken forever (things have been crazy lately and I’ve been experiencing one health crisis after another, with my 2 year old daughter’s birthday sandwiched in the middle of it all.) Long story short, I’m grateful for the patience. I can only hope this was worth the wait.
And for the Pern fans, I’ve been busily working away on some character designs (which I will probably start posting here soon) and I’ve just started pencils on my first page… So you have not been forgotten.
Finally done! I hope this isn’t too graphic. Imagine my discomfiture in working on this page at my family reunion last weekend…
In totally unrelated news, I’ve been getting a lot of fan letters encouraging me to do some more Pern stuff, and I have to admit I’m feeling pretty tempted. There’s a good chance I’ll be posting something along those lines fairly soon. 🙂
Uuuuuuugh. This one took a crazy load of work, and I’m still not entirely happy with it. Guess that’s the way it goes sometimes. I wanted to do something that felt very “classical” and painterly, but I failed to anticipate how exhausting that would end up being. It’s only a 6 pg short, but I’m half-dreading starting the next page. Hopefully I’ll get better at this as I go and the process will streamline a bit.
Here’s the cover for my next short story project; should be about 6 pages. I’ve been slow on this because there’s been a potentially very exciting development with one of my other pieces… hopefully I’ll have an update about that later.
I intended to do this in ink wash, but it’s been a struggle to keep the toddler out of it, so I’ve had to compromise my initial plans.
Hey, that’s motherhood for you. 🙂
